Southern European network of educational institutes.
On the 14th of January, during a meeting of Florint’s general secretary with Federfiori’s president and other representatives, an important and promising agreement was made as to the creation of a dedicated network of Southern European educational institutions. Like in any other field also in floristry education it is of vital importance for educational institutes in the actual information era to connect, form networks, exchange information, share good practices etc. That principle is understood by many schools already longer and networks have been created of many floristry schools throughout Europe. Obviously however there is a gap in Europe roughly between the Northern and Mid- and Southern European countries, which makes it difficult for Southern schools to connect in a well-functioning way to Northern schools and existing networks. A gap, caused by a mix a language differences and socio- / cultural backgrounds, but in fact mainly caused by the difference that in Northern countries vocational training is mainly government funded and in Southern countries mainly privately funded.

The idea, already supported by Florint’s last General Assembly, is to create a strong and functional network of floristry schools in the Southern countries of Europe or even the Mediterranean area. Countries thus, where languages and social or cultural backgrounds aren’t barriers of any importance and where vocational training levels are on more similar levels than compared to the rest of Europe. Sharing information and educational content, exchanging students and teachers, working together on common problems, this all will be much more feasible and workable. Thus creating a serious win-win situation for all floristry schools involved which can strengthen themselves and each other and commonly rise to a substantial higher level. Which in the end will make it possible to “bridge” the existing gap between the North / Mid of Europe and the South and connect the existing networks with each other on a structural basis.

Federfiori, being the strongest florist association in the South of Europe, is willing to play a leading role in the creation of this network. In the coming period a project and action plan will be drafted in consultation between Federfiori and Florint and within the first half of this year a conference will be organized with the most relevant partners of the target countries, in order to create awareness and support, discuss and define the goals of the project, the outcomes and the results and decide on the common path and each organizations role and responsibilities. The final project plan will then be submitted for financial support with relevant European funds. Federfiori and Florint have a strong believe that this approach will enable floristry schools in Southern Europe to give a strong impulse together to their development and that it will put them in a far better position to cope with challenges like the National Vocational Quality Framework and Competence Oriented Learning.

THE FIRST THIRTEEN LATINAMERICAN FLORISTS AND TEACHERS FROM THE “ESCUELA IBEROAMERICANA DE ARTE FLORAL – EIAF” GET THE DIPLOMA OF “FLORAL DESIGNER FEDERFIORI” DISCUSSING A BRIEF THESIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PAVIA

“It’s a great satisfaction and pride, still more in a period in which the city of Vigevano hosts an important Event dedicated to the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci (www.leonardoevigevano.it) - says the Director of Federfiori-Confcommercio, Dr. Alberto Zaverio – having had the opportunity to give hospitality to a delegation of 13 florists, and teachers, from Latin America (Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Cuba, Honduras, Venezuela, Costa Rica, but also from United States of America and Sweden) that in my city, from 19 to 26 of April, attended to the last two courses of the Federfiori High School, “Colour” and “Material”. A confirmation “on the field” of the good level of our professional education, a professionalism that we are exporting in the world, thanking to a great collaboration with Roxana Barrientos, the Director of the Escuela Iberoamericana de Arte Floral who helped us to be present in Ecuador, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica and Nicaragua”.
Taking, then, the whole delegation to the University of Pavia, from 28 to 29 of April, to get the Diploma of “Floral Designer Federfiori” is something incredible! And we have to thank the University of Pavia, in the person of Prof. Francesco Sartori, and the agreement with the University itself, the Municipality of Vigevano and the Provincia di Pavia for this opportunity,! – concludes Mr. Carlo Sprocatti, President of Federfiori.
