Giordano Simonelli has attended all the courses run by Federfiori (Italian Florists’ Federation), participated in a programme for European professional florists in Turin, and attended a course for FEUPF (Federation of Professional Florist Associations) teachers in Grünberg (Germany). Designed the Italian entry at IGA ‘83 in Munich and the following year in Avignon, as part of a cultural exchange programme with French florists. Represented Italy at the 1999 Hortoflora show in Paris. Was one of the founders of the National Laboratory of Floral Art, whose aim is to carry out pure research in the field of materials, composition and design. Has held both technical and organisational appointments within the Italian Florists’ Federation, including the position of Team coordinator for the 1999 European Cup. Has won numerous floral arrangement competitions, the most important of which was the 10th Silver Orchid prize. Makes regular appearances on Italian national and local television networks. Wrote and published a book on funeral flower arrangements entitled REQUIESCANT; for two years was Editor of the magazine “Il Fiorista”, which under his guidance completely renewed its visual and editorial style. Has managed the floral arrangements for world class events including several editions of the Miflor exhibition, and the 2001 and 2006 Euroflora show. Was awarded a knighthood by the Italian Government (Cavaliere al merito della Repubblica Italiana) in June 1992. Attended a European course for international competition judges at Gelsenchirken, and has sat on the judging panels the European Junior Cup in Padua, in Utrecht and in Knutsfort, the Greek Interflora Cup and the Italian Cup in Trieste and Salerno. Is a faculty member of the Federfiori School for Professional Florists. His flower designs are widely acclaimed at the international floral expo in Frankfurt, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and France and and teaches in the Russian Federation.
